When the walls are closing in...

Did you ever come to a moment in your life where you just stopped and said,"what's the point of going on?" You feel utterly helpless inside. Nothing in this world is worth enjoying. Nothing seems to gratify that empty feeling you have. Nothing can make you keep a smile on your face every day. Nothing seems to hold any love for you. You feel as if the walls around you are closing in. There is no escape route. Darkness seems to be setting in. The light at the end of the tunnel seems to be getting farther away than any closer. It seems as if everyone around you has turned into a raging lion, determined to devour you. If not that, than they have forsaken you, like one forsakes and discards trash. "Why continue?, you say, What is the use of continuing when everyone and everything is against me?" You look around you again and the darkness seems to have gotten darker, the walls seem to be closer, and the teeth of lions seem to glow in the dark.
Every ounce of your strength is gone, you can't continue like this much longer. With everything inside of you, you scream.

As your scream echo's and eventually dies away, the silence again settles in.

And then like a breathe of wind, you hear someone whispering your name.
You jump up. It has been a long time since you heard a voice so soothing and calm whispering your name. Again it calls, and this time you answer, "Right here!!!"

Out of the darkness steps a figure, clothed in white. He is so bright that you can't look at Him. You lower your eyes and fall to your knees.

He kneels next to you. You can hear His heart beat. He leans over and whispers into your ear,"I Love You. I want you to be near Me. I want you to find absolute joy in Me. I want to hold you close and never let go. I will calm your fears. I will drive away the darkness. I will pull you out of these ashes. I Love YOU and NOTHING in this universe can snatch you out of My Hand. All I want you to do is live for Me and Me alone."

You look around you at the snarling lions, the utter darkness, and walls continuing to close in.

You look up into His face and say,"For You and You alone will I live!"

In response, He stands up. He looks at the lions and they bolt away with their tails between their legs. He stretches out His hands and pushes the walls back, and as He does, the room is filled with a peaceful, radiant light! You are free!! You look again at He who has saved you, and you are overcome with tears. He gained nothing in saving you and yet He loves you so much that He did anyway. What love!?!?! You bow at His feet, determined that nothing in this universe will ever replace Him. He again kneels down next to you and says,"It won't always be easy. You will be looked down upon. Life will be bumpy and narrow. But, but I will always be at your side, to pick you up when you fall and hold you like a child when you are down. I Love YOU."
